Tyler and Haley are two peas in a pod. They’re best friends and, now, husband and wife. I met Tyler and Haley at church when we were in the same small group in Spring of 2019. It wasn’t until Tyler was preparing to propose that I got to know them on a deeper level. The weekend before the proposal, I found out that Tyler needed a photographer. I communicated with Haley’s sister, Brooke throughout the week to make sure all of the details were straight. On Tuesday night, during small group I pointed out Tyler and Haley to Cameron. I whispered, “that’s whose proposal I’m photographing this Saturday!” He glared at me and responded, “You shouldn’t have told me that…you better hope I don’t slip up and say something!” I didn’t think anything of it because we hadn’t spent much time in conversation with them…until that night. Haley came and sat down right next to us after small group and we chatted for a while. Thankfully, Cameron didn’t slip up and we left that night with no spoiling of the surprise. Saturday came and we hid in Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse waiting for Tyler and Haley to arrive. We listened carefully for Tyler’s cue and moved in to photograph the big moment! Little did I know that this was just the beginning.
Tyler and Haley have become such good friends of ours. I was so completely honored when Haley asked me to be their wedding photographer. I knew, being a wedding professional herself, that their wedding would be one for the books. BOY, was that an understatement! Haley put together the most beautiful day! When Tyler and Haley were looking at wedding venues, I encouraged them to look at mine and Cameron’s! They toured and fell in love with it as quickly as we did. The date was set—October 26, 2019 at The Estate at Independence. It was such a fun experience to shoot a wedding at my own venue just months before my own wedding.
Tyler and Haley’s wedding day was filled with love, happy tears, and so many gorgeous details. I was happy dancing through the whole day—it was the perfect day! Every time I get behind my camera, I fall more and more in love with this job. It brings me so much joy to serve couples on the biggest day of their life together. Throughout their day, it was so evident how many lives these two have touched both individually and together.
At the end of Tyler and Haley’s wedding day, they gave me a gift! I’ll never understand why God blesses me with the most amazing and thoughtful couples, but I’m forever grateful. They gave me a sweatshirt with my new monogram (as of 5.16.20) on it. I teared up in the parking lot and again on the way home. It was so special.
Thank you, Tyler and Haley, for inviting me to photograph your beautiful wedding. I’m so thankful for you two and your hearts! Cheers to the new Mr. and Mrs. Ross!
