It feels so surreal to share photos from MY wedding day! For so long, I’ve shared photos and stories of other couples’ wedding days. When Cameron proposed and we began planning our wedding, I never could have imagined that our wedding would take place in the midst of a global pandemic. So many people have expected us to be devastated by the fact that our big wedding would be postponed to a later date. In reality, we were sad for maybe 5 minutes (literally – 5 minutes of tears and then we were done). The more and more I reflected, the more I realized that this was God’s plan all along – with nothing to distract from what He intended this moment to be. Of course, we had hoped that our friends and family could be in attendance, but God’s hand was all over our wedding day and I wouldn’t change a thing about how it happened.
Since we had the opportunity to celebrate our marriage twice, we decided to do our first ceremony in a completely different location than what we had originally planned. The owners of Richmond’s newest event venue, The Estate at River Run, are new family friends and quickly invited us to have our May 16th ceremony on their property. It was such a beautiful location for us to say “I do”, and I’m so grateful for Andrew and Kim’s hospitality.
When I woke up on our wedding day, it felt exactly how I envisioned. It was bittersweet to wake up in my parents’ home one last time before being married to the man of my dreams. My mom had prepared two of my favorite breakfast casseroles that we’ve only ever had on Christmas morning. As soon as we sat down for breakfast, I was overcome with emotion and started crying. I’m so grateful for the home I grew up in and the influences I had.
After breakfast, my mom and I spent the morning running errands to pick up flowers and Chick-Fil-A for lunch. After lunch we packed up the cars and left for The Estate at River Run. I had my hair and makeup professionally done, and my photographer and videographer arrived to begin documenting our day. It was so different being a bride – I definitely had a hard time getting out of “photographer mode” on our wedding day, but I was so happy to experience the other side of a wedding day. I was giddy with excitement when I looked out of the bridal suite window to see my soon-to-be hubby walking down the stairs. I remember thinking to myself, “Wow – God is so faithful.”
When they say your wedding day flies by, they’re not kidding. Before I knew it, I was walking down the grand staircase at River Run to have my first look with Cameron. We were both so giggly and excited to be married. When Cameron saw me, he said “They said you looked like royalty – they were right.” Talk about a dream guy!! Cameron shows his love so well, and I feel so honored to be his wife.
Our ceremony was so intimate. We were married in front of our parents, my sister, and Cameron’s best man. Our ceremony was held on the brick terrace overlooking the James River. My sweet friend and business bestie, Abby Bostian, filmed our day and I’m forever grateful that we have our vows recorded. You can watch our wedding video at the bottom of this blog post – you can’t miss her gorgeous work!
Following our ceremony, we celebrated with bride and groom photos, family photos, and cutting our cake! After leaving River Run, we went to my parents’ house for a catered wedding dinner. It was so special to be surrounded by our loved ones after such an incredible day. When I think back to our first wedding, all I can say is that God is faithful and so so good. Cameron and I are overjoyed and so thankful for the love we’ve felt in this season!
I can’t wait to share photos and videos from our second wedding, but I have to share these gorgeous ones first! It’s a long one – enjoy!
